It gives me great pleasure to introduce our Centre (LSC), a "One-Stop" Medical Centre providing a very comprehensive and up-to-date quality healthcare services and facilities ranging from prevention, diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of diseases and medical conditions to aesthetic procedures and health screening packages in a warm and caring environment ideal for rest and recovery.
In line with our aspiration to be a leader in the healthcare industry and to provide quality healthcare, we are always undergoing continuous improvement to ensure that we provide you with the best in human resource and technology. With the opening of our 10 Storey New Wing in September 2009, LSC has again expanded to meet the needs of the people of Penang, the Northern Region and the neighbouring countries and in support of the government's effort to promote medical tourism and to make LSC the destination of preference for healthcare internationally. With this New Wing, LSC has now created another landmark in Georgetown.
The 10 Storey New Wing has a well-equipped Cancer Unit with the latest technology, the PET-CT Scanner for early detection, staging and management of cancer and the Radiotherapy Unit, additional services and facilities, more clinics and beds (mainly single rooms), all with magnificent views for a more comfortable and pleasant recovery. With this expansion LSC now has 3 wings, namely the Main Wing, Diagnostic Wing and Women & Children Wing with Fertility Unit, and a total of 265 beds. The Electronic Medical Record System has also been implemented to facilitate a more efficient management of patients' records.
We have achieved re-certification for internationally recognized quality standards, the ISO 9001: 2008 and also a full 3 years hospital accreditation awarded by the Malaysian Society for Quality in Health (MSQH). We were awarded the SMB Recognition Award 2006 for Service Excellence by SMI Malaysia and the CHT INPenang Best Brand 2009 by CHT Network, awarded to individuals or organizations who have made valuable contributions to the society. One of the first centres in the Northern region to provide Percutaneous Laser Disc Decompression (PLDD).
Imaging services and one of the first in the Northern Region to acquire the Supercon MRI, the 4-slice Multi-slice Computed Tomography (MSCT-4), the 1.5 Tesla MRI and the 64-slice Somatom Sensation Cardiac 64 CT Scanner.
One of the first centres in Malaysia to acquire the Thermage Thermacool System for facial contouring without surgery.
One of the first centres in the Northern region to offer the Cochlear Implant Programme, a gift of hearing to those in need. Since starting the programme in May 2005, we have achieved a few breakthroughs including the oldest implant case in Malaysia, a 78 years old ex-professor done in August 2007 and the first bilateral implant case in Malaysia done in December 2007.
A very comprehensive Rehabilitation Unit comprising of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Audiologists and Speech & Language Pathologists/ Auditory Verbal Therapists to enhance your quality of life. Together with the Paediatricians and Psychologists we also have a One-Stop Centre for children with diverse needs.
One of the first private hospitals in the Northern Region to install the PET-CT Scanner in September 2009.
