Overview of Energy Conservation and Waste Minimization Programmed |
| |
Our Objectives : |
| >> |
To increase efficiencies and to reduce wastages in the Hospital, distribution and consumption of
utilities (water & electricity) |
| >> |
To improve on waste management through elimination, minimization or recycling of solid waste |
Since 2004, LSC embraced the concept of a conserving society by practicing the 3Rs lifestyle – Reduce, Reuse
and Recycle of materials since 2004 to show our respect for resources.
EHS Team enhanced the capacity of knowledge-oriented hospital by officially kick-off the Energy Conservation
and Waste Minimization program in June 2007 by inviting the MPPP Officer for a talk. A Recycling
Costume Contest was organized to educate our ‘throw-away’ lifestyle by Recycling the household and Hospital
waste.
We, the Waste Generators must segregate the non-recyclables & recyclables into waste bins & recyclable bins respectively. We donate the recyclables to 2 charitable homes ie Eden Handicap & Sima. We also practice energy conservation by using the Superbright tubes instead of the ordinary fluorescent tubes at specific locations; without forgoing the brightness. Start-up of heavy utilized equipments is during off-peak hours. Auto-timers were installed
to manage the lighting for certain areas. This will minimize consumption.
By implementing the Energy Conservation and Waste Minimization Program in LSC, we have managed to reduce the quantity of waste to dumpsites/landfills, reduce energy consumption and also keeping our environment clean and
green, not only for ourselves, but for our future generation.
