On behalf of the Board of Directors of , I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your interests in our website and our beloved Centre.

Let’s take a walk down memory lane...
The Specialists Centre, as it was called back then, was established in 1975. Originally a modest 30-bed hospital staffed by humble medical professionals, it was later renamed the in 1992 to recognize and acknowledge the contributions and achievements of my late father Datuk Dr. Loh Guan Lye in establishing this Centre. A prominent General Practitioner during his time, my late father left us to be with the Lord in 1992, leaving our family and all Penangites with a legacy…the
The Centre is today the “Home Away From Home” for our patients and over 500 committed health professionals. Our Surgeons, Doctors, Nurses and Paramedics as well as Administration and Support teams continue to provide high standards of medicine to our patients.

With the inclusion of the new wing in 1995, the Centre has expanded into a 250-bed hospital. One which is equally well-equipped with up-to-date technology, such as the 1.5 Tesla Quantum Gradient MRI and the Multislice Spiral CT.

The LohGuanLye College of Nursing was set up in June 1996 to provide a career path for anyone with a passion for nursing. The College also provides training for nurses from other hospitals.

The Centre, having entered the new millennium with grace (we were blessed with delivering 3 millennium babies) looks set to expand even further over the next few years. We’ve recently acquired some land where we hope the foundations of all our futures will soon be laid.

As we look forward to new challenges in this new millennium, I would like to conclude by thanking all our partners, Consultants, staff and everyone who has shared in my father’s vision and who’ve stayed with us through the trying times and laughed with us during the good times.

“Practice good medicine and you’ll receive good rewards.”

Thank you my dear father for your vision and thank you dear reader for your support.
